BOXING PROGRAMS OF VINTAGE BOXING GYM
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
FOOTWORK
Footwork is one of the fundamentals of boxing and the first thing you learn. Footwork allows you to be mobile. Being mobile gets you into position more quickly in order to effectively deliver combinations. Footwork drills also build up the muscles in the lower body. This translates directly into power during your punches.
BOXER CONDITIONING
During a match or a boxing workout, you have to not only make explosive movements, but you also have to make sure you don’t gas out too soon. Vintage Boxing trainers give you the same conditioning exercises boxers get. The strength and conditioning portion is meant to enhance every aspect of your workout.
PUNCHING TECHNIQUE
Strength and conditioning won’t do you any good if you don’t have the technique to go along with it. Proper punching technique is one of the fundamentals Vintage Boxing coaches teach in the Intro to Boxing class. Not only is it important for effectiveness in the ring, but the basic technique is also learned to be done safely and effectively.
SPARRING TECHNIQUES
I’m sure you’ve heard practice makes perfect. That is why training is important. Don’t worry. It doesn’t mean you will get punched in the face. Sparring is not as much about the physical as it is about the mind. It is possible to speed up the mind, sharpen reflexes, improve pacing, decision making, and reactions. Boxing sparring under the guidance of a Vintage Boxing coach also helps identify and correct errors, develop personal skills, practice techniques, strategies, and styles.
